The Inspiration Behind a Successful Reunion Planning Business

Based in Kansas City, Missouri, An Event With Class has been a true family-oriented reunion planning business in since the mid 1980s. Husband and wife team, Shannon and Darren Prenger, acquired the reunion planning business from other family members and have continued to plan successful events in their community.

The Prengers had a passion for social gatherings and believed they had a great instinct for event planning. This formed the motivation to purchase the company as it made sense to put that passion to use in the form of a business.

Using their combined experience in business development and information technology, Shannon and Darren manage the company with seven additional staff members. They strive to take the burden off the shoulders of the alumni committee and allow them to get the credit. They attract most of their clients from word of mouth but also use TV, newspaper and website ads.

Pros and Cons of Reunion Planning. The most gratifying part of the business is planning an event with a great turnout that is also manageable with their facility partners. The most difficult part? Estimating a turnout and ensuring that it's a "win" for all parties involved.

An Event With Class also plans other large events and have scheduled their first holiday-based event for 2009. Corporate gatherings, social events, as well as any additional events that fit into the company model are also part of their business plan.

One piece of advice for other reunion planners? Access accurately the dynamics of all groups for whom you intend to plan an event. This makes better business decisions.

A goal to be practiced under any and all economic circumstances. Now go plan a great reunion.
