Reunion Planning Basics

Tips & Tricks to Planning Your Perfect Reunion!

The Basics of Planning a Reunion Should Start with 3 Organizational Steps

  • Get good assistance. The number of volunteers who really pitch in determine the success of your event. The more people searching and hence, finding, former classmates, family and friends, the higher your turnout. A continual flow of ideas and enthusiasm, plus clear lines of communication make the process move along smoothly. In an atmosphere of harmony and focus, the job becomes more like a social gathering than work.

  • Plan and Priortize.  Get organized at least a year in advance.  Set up your committee and a regular meeting time.  For example, once a month until you are close to the reunion, meet at a committee member's home or office.  Then start the process by:

    • Collecting seed money from members of you committee, by asking them to pay for their tickets up front.  Offer a discount, but you will need to open a bank account to pay for initial expenses and deposits.

    • Organizing the search to locate classmates, family members, military buddies or for any group you are trying to reunite.

    • Picking the date and location of your event based on an estimated attendance

  • Enter your data into a computer program.  Computerizing your guest information is a time and labor saving device. The program that was designed along with our book, The Reunion Planner® will make a huge impact on the organization of your reunion.  Print address labels and envelopes, various lists such as who is attending, those still missing, those located, to do lists, budget worksheets, Memory album templates, family attendees, purchase options, and more.  For a sneak peek, just download a trial version of the program under Resources, Software, Trial Version on this website.
